Data sources and privacy

Privacy. This page sets no cookies. Your browser keeps your last searched place, up to five recent places, your °F or °C choice, your theme choice, whether you dismissed the iPhone install tip, and the last data received for those places (local storage), so it can show them while new data loads. The Clear saved places button under the search box removes them from this device. Embedded maps, links to other sites and, on a tropical storm alert, the forecast picture are loaded from other sites. Those sites receive your IP address and standard web request information, and for maps the place shown, rounded to about 11 kilometres; their own privacy terms apply. A map loads only if you choose to show it. Searches and coordinates are sent to this site and on to the services that supply the forecast and place data. Coordinates from the Use my location control, which runs only if you click it and only after your browser's own permission prompt, are rounded to about 110 metres before they are sent or stored. To deliver pages and limit request rates, the network services that deliver this site receive visitors' IP addresses. A sampled record of requests (about 1 in 10) is kept for up to 3 days to find and fix errors; it can include the request address (which can contain a search or the rounded coordinates above), your IP address, your browser's name and version, and an approximate location from your IP address. Outside the EU, general visit statistics (visit counts, page speed, referring site, country, browser and device type) are recorded. Searches are not added to your browser history. We use this data to show the forecast, keep the site working and measure its use (legitimate interests). You can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of personal data we hold about you, and you can complain to your data protection authority. Contact: feedback@evulnable.com.
